Active Involvement

U3A is for people who wish to be actively involved. Hence U3A Southern Highlands is an active group with about 1,000 members. Most of our members live in the Wingecarribee Shire including the towns of Bowral, Bundanoon, Mittagong, Moss Vale, and Robertson, plus many villages and residential areas in the surrounding districts.

Many of our classes are held in Bowral which is the demographic centre of the Shire but classes are held in other centres whenever practicable.

U3A Southern Highlands usually offers more than 60 courses, activities or events in each school term.

The emphasis is on mutual education in a wide range of subjects including arts, crafts and music; current affairs; games and sports; history; humanities; languages; lifestyle, exercise and health; literature; and science and technology. Retirees have a lifetime of knowledge and experience, and the sharing of that knowledge with members forms a cornerstone of the organisation.  No formal qualifications are required to lead or attend courses and there are no exams.

There is always a social aspect to our courses so most class sessions include a break.
